Certificate of Competence (ICC)

Previous Experience: Knowledge and Experience
to Level II
Minimum Age: 17 years
Course Aim: To gain the
internationally recognised award to allow own vessel use and charter
boat use by British Nationals abroad.
Methods for gaining this award:

You can apply to the RYA for an
ICC after gaining the Level 2 certificate either by attending a full
course or

through Direct Assessment, (if you possess the required
boathandling skills and theory knowledge you can apply to the centre
for a Level 2 Direct Assessment Test).

The ICC can be obtained by ICC Direct Assessment at this Centre,
however, most people like to ensure that they
have the required skills and simply use the PB Level 2 Certificate
gained after a full course to apply for their ICC, which, if
you are an RYA member, is issued free of charge upon presentation of
their certificate to the RYA.

There are other qualifications that can entitle
you to apply for an ICC, they are too many to mention here, but feel
free to call the centre if you have a qualification you feel may be
suitable.
It may possible to take these
courses on your own boat privately, providing it is adequately
equipped.
