Course Aim: To provide crew with essential life-saving skills
Course Content: This course is designed to provide a working knowledge of First Aid
for Skippers and crew of small craft operating within 60 miles from safe haven. Upon
successful completion of the course your certificate will be valid for 3 years.
Principles of First Aid, assessment and immediate actions to be taken
Principles of resuscitation, (inc. drowning and near drowning)
How to give effective CPR (now known as Basic Life Support)
Prevention, recognition of Hypothermia (and Hyperthermia)
Recognition and treatment of Shock
Control of Bleeding (internal and external)
Recognition and treatment of Fractures
Management of casualties inc. Helicopter Evacuation
Recognition of underlying conditions
Awareness and use of Category C Drugs (Offshore candidates only).
